Even though it is still made by the original manufacturer, it's long and varied history has made it's way into many other pedal manufacturer's fold. When we set out to create the Manx Loaghtan fuzz, our goal wasn't to brush off an obscure build to recreate. Rather than looking back over that pedals heritage, we wanted to try and push it forward. One of the more common traits among fuzzes of that ilk is the tone control. However, we felt that such a tone stack was rather limiting. Often you would follow the sweep looking for the one spot that sounded right. The one spot where it didn't sound too boomy or constricted and thin. Where the pedal finally finds its harmony. We wanted it to not be a compromise between too bright and too bassy, but also be capable of doing either or both with a nice mid range scoop in order to sound HEAVY for chunky chords. So rather than using the traditional tone control we incorporated the Baxandall.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAbout the Baxandall tone control: Crank both treble and bass and you get a classic scooped midrange. Back both off, while turning up the volume knob and your midrange content increases. Park the treble and roll back the bass and the midrange scoop frequency shifts downward so you have complete control over which frequencies you are cutting. Roll the bass below noon and you start to add a bump to your midrange which is great for running into a hot amp. This tone control style is capable of numerous sounds, making the Manx Loaghtan one of the most versatile pedals of this style.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHowever, our goals included more than just including a more effective tone control. We wanted sustain that wouldn't wolf out with the neck pickup. We wanted a flute like sing with nice upper harmonics ringing through. We wanted to be able to use this into a hot amp if you wish to, so when you lower the bass nice mid range content can cut through. We also wanted the SUSTAIN range to be usable all the way throughout the dial. A massive black hole is sending out jets of particles that crash into the cloud, causing pressure waves to ripple outward. Some astronomers interpret these as sound waves. Of course, even if you call it sound, it’s too low for anyone to hear. They estimate the note to be a “B flat,” about fifty-seven octaves lower than middle C.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhile the Perseus won’t give you 57 octaves below, we do believe this is the coolest analog octave-down fuzz out there! The Perseus is an octave-down fuzz that allows you to select either one or two octaves down mixed with a fuzz sound that you can blend to any mix of the two you want, including just the fuzz or just the sub-octave. The Perseus can track the sub-octave note accurately no matter where on the neck you are playing!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Perseus features three knobs and an octave switch. The Volume has PLENTY of output so you can pummel your amp to your heart's desire! Unity volume is around 10:00. The Blend allows you mix the fuzz and octave sounds in any amount you want. The Cut control is something special on the Perseus. Turn the Cut control full-counterclockwise for maximum bass frequency domination. Turn it clockwise to trim the fat. This enables you to tune the Perseus to your amp or to create cool textures for lead playing. While the controls on the Perseus may seem simple, it’s important to know that your guitar’s tone, volume and pickup selection makes a big difference in the Perseus’ behaviour. features a very rich and deep vibe sound.  The “Kool Vibe” setting is perfect for getting complex phaser-like sounds.  It combines phasing and tremolo at key frequencies to give you incredible depth and rhythm.  Not only does it match the frequency response of a vibe, it simulates the unique pulsing of a photo-cell based effect.  You can add the Octave to the “Kool Vibe” for an amazing doubling effect or for an incredibly deep synth bass type sound.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe “Les Rotary” sound in the Monterey Fuzz Vibe is both very accurate and surprisingly new sounding.  Like the original cabinet, this simulation joins both the lower drum and the upper horn into a rich, dimensional effect that generates an unmistakable chorus and tremolo soundscape.  Not only is the cabinet itself simulated with very short reverberated reflections that offer a doubling effect, the Doppler Effect provides a soothing chorused sound that is clean and ethereal.  The Octave Control in the Rotary cabinet simulation controls the volume of the horn or tweeter sounds.  It does not produce an octave effect here.  This allows you to get a very chorus-like effect with ample high-end detail when simulating a “Les Rotary” style cabinet.  Set the Rate OFF for no rotation, turn the Fuzz on, and the Depth and Octave controls give you a wonderful speaker cabinet simulation.  It’s fuzz with tonal control like you’ve never had before!  Perfect for matching any size of power amp with the pedal’s fuzz to give you anything from dark overdrive to hard, edgy, squared fuzz!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe “Harmonic Wah” section combines several more new sounds from Keeley in the Monterey Rotary Fuzz Vibe.  It is a fixed or cocked wah sound, an auto wah, a harmonic\/tremolo wah, and even a regular foot-controlled wah when you add an expression pedal.  With the Depth Control turned all of the way down\/off you are in the Wah Mode.  The Wah Mode gives you control over the frequency you boost by adjusting the Rate Control.  If you have an expression pedal connected, it becomes a regular Wah Pedal.  Turn the Depth control up a slight amount and the Monterey becomes an Auto Wah.  In the Auto Wah mode, your pick attack and strength creates an envelope filter sound.  After the noon\/center position on the Depth Control, you have the new Harmonic Wah.  It is like the harmonic tremolo on a brown face amp, but the frequencies are centered around a wah pedal instead.  It’s ideal for players who like the
